“All I want is a pretty girl, a decent meal, and the right to shoot lightning at fools.”
Bioware released its sequel to the hit game Dragon Age: Orgins.
Overall opinion on the game is mixed. Many feel that the RPG factor that was in Orgins was stripped from Dragon Age 2 and replaced with a more action type fighting mode. The game also carried over the conversation box from Mass Effect game types instead of using the tree from the first game.
The story drops dead compared to Orgins. The linear path that this one takes is much different than that of its predecessor. Alot of the time you don’t see the point in what you are doing. In orgins you were attempting to save Ferelden from a Blight that was coming by joining the Grey Wardens. In Dragon Age 2, you are pretty much just trying to get your familys name back and the real point in the story does not pick up till the last 10 hours of the game.
I personally love the fast paced action fighting RPG that shares similarities to other RPG’s in the past. The control that you possess is limitless while everything still feels the smooth and agile. I have only played Dragon Age 2 on console (PS3) but on the PC you can still go back to the strategic Role Play of its predecessor. You choose between 3 classes: Warrior, Rogue, and Mage. All with different trees to make your gameplay completely different for those who enjoy several playthroughs.
Dragon Age 2 brings an excellent soundtrack and great sound effects to make your gameplay more enjoyable. Games with horrible music do cut down on your gameplay experience quite a bit. Therefore, it is very good news that this game has done a great job on that.
Bioware definitely stepped it up on graphics for this sequel. The graphics in Dragon Age Orgins was no where near what this game has to offer.
I have earned the Platinum Trophy(100%) in this game on PS3 and it took me 2 playthroughs and nearly 105 hours total to beat this game twice while doing as many side quests as I could find. (although i’m sure i missed quite a few). They have already released two downloadable contents for this game and If it is anything like Orgins we can expect plenty more in the future.
